HTML can be used in wiki pages, so ThriKreen says, but, and I quote:

I guess that actually means, yep, that typing out HTML is slower. I guess the actual compliation and loading times are not affected. Also, having never used it, things like Dreamweaver and other HTMl makers probably can be quicker if you use HTML :-P

The main HTML code used seems to be
for a new line, and the Character formatting in the MediaWiki_User_Guide:_Editing_overview.
