[edit] Overview

Also known as DanglyMesh, Flex is a property that tells the verticies in a mesh to be 'lazy' and get affected by movement and wind.

Note:
Flex and Skin cannot exist on the same object! There are ways to mix them however.

[edit] Usage

Image:Flex00.jpg First you need to assign the vertex weights. From the Edit Mesh modifier, switch to Vertex Mode.
Image:Flex01.jpg Select a couple of verticies and scroll down the modifier rollout til you see Vertex Colors. While NWMax only uses the Red value for the Flex weight, most people usually change all three at once just to keep the colour as grayscale to make it easier to eyeball the value. A value of 0 or 255 means 0% affected by Flex. Most of the time you'd probably want to hover in the 50-230 range (about 20%-80%).

Image:Flex03.jpg Adjust the AuroraFlex settings to match the type of property, such as hair or cloth.
- That's it! Link to your AuroraBase and export, and check how your Flex settings act in the game.

[edit] Flex Settings

These are some sample Flex settings used in NWN, to give you an idea of the range and what sort of values are used.

Example Sway Strength Flex
- The strength of the flex that causes it to stop. Think of it as friction. A lower value means it takes longer for it to stop (see quote at bottom). The springiness of the verticies. Higher value means it will snap and bounce a lot, while a lower one means it is more lazy and smooth. The distance it is allowed to move (in centimeters?)
Hair 8.0 3.0 0.3
Cloth, Sleeve 6.0 3.0 0.4
Cloth, Shirt 7.0 3.0 0.35
Dangling Chainmail 5.0 0.1 1.0

<ThriKreen> I just put sway=0.0 on a jiggly torso... my god the boobs don't stop moving!
