The purpose of this site is to provide a single repository for all things relating to editing NWN. Credit goes to Eligio Sacateca for initially compiling the guide, and all the Contributors, from which I converted to an online format. Because he's busy with the Community Expansion Pack and I'm busy with DragonLance Adventures, I opted to set up this site to allow anyone to edit the CCG so we can have a regularly updated guide on creating content for NWN. For that reason, Wiki Wiki Web (with MediaWiki being this particular software version) is used because it's designed for group collaborated documentation. Anyone can edit a page and offer their input on a subject or make new sections, and a lot of the HTML formatting is automated thereby allowing you to focus on the information instead of the layout.

Some general guidelines:

  • This site forces you to be logged in before you can edit a page, but the registration process is very easy - just enter your name and password and that's it. We have a very open and friendly policy here, but the login is done to insure that vandals can be tracked and banned.
  • Again with the open aspect of this site, please watch what you write! While I will make every effort to edit and maintain the site at an acceptable level of content, I can't do everything, and I certainly will not appreciate some idiot who considers it funny to romp around the site and delete everything. Yes backups will be made, and it is trivial to rollback a page, but it's still a headache having to search and restore the page.
  • Try to add to the bottom of your page a backlink to the previous main page(s). You can take a look at existing pages to see how it is done, but aim for a format with each page separated by a pipe ("|") like so: Main_Page | TileSets | WalkMeshes, and a line (four ----) right above it to separate it from the rest of the main body. This is just to make navigating back easier.
  • Clicking on the NWN CCG logo at the top corner will always bring you to the main homepage.
  • Image uploading IS supported, but please make it relevant to NWN editing.
  • Certain key pages will be locked from editing (Main_Page, this one for instance) for obvious reasons.
  • However, you can always use the Discuss this page link on every page to discuss issues about it, even if the page is locked (add more info, clarify a topic, spelling corrections, etc.).
  • I'd suggest to maintain a consistant format for the various topics. Start off with a general description of the topic (what is it?), elaborate, then give information out on an increasing level of detail from intermediate to advanced. A good example of this will be the section on TileSets - use that as a template for starting a new section.
