[edit] Must Have

• NWN Explorer - basic tool for NWN - lets you view and export all NWN resources.
• TLK Editor -- Excellent 2DA, TLK, GFF, ERF Editor by EwaldTheUnimaginative in Java, supports TLK diffs.

[edit] 2D Tools

For create/edit textures, item icons and portraits.

• Adobe Photoshop
• Paintshop Pro
• The Gimp - freeware option for Image Editing

[edit] 3D Tools

To create your own 3d Models.

• 3D Studio Max
• Gmax - Freeware version of 3dsMax, fully capable of all things NWN with NWmax
• NWMax - comes in both Max and gMax flavours, this supercedes the MDL Plugin Suite and Wayland's gMax Scripts.
• Aura Export Scripts - Biowares Export Plugin for 3dsMax3 up to 3dsMax5. Export only. Use NWmax if you want to import models.

[edit] Command Line Tools

• Perl Tools Vast collection of perl tools for working with NWN files.
• nwtools ModPacker, MiniMapExport and More...
• ERF Utilitiy (I believe used by PRC to automate there hak building)

[edit] Editing

You can use one of these to read and edit ASCII(text) files like: .2da,.set etc.

• Notepad or Wordpad
• TextPad - Recommended TextEditor
• Set Editor BETA 0.85 by NatherFlows
• CODI custom content helper - Good for mass-producing 2da lines, although a text editor is usually nicer for some aspects.

[edit] Editing TLK files

• DialogTLK -- created by Ken Scott, updated by Eligio Sacateca, supports custom tlk tables, XML Import/Export, and diffs.
• CODI Custom Content helper - Still in beta, but if updated to remove a few bugs, can edit TLK files, and export/inport/merge as others can.

[edit] Comes with NWN

• Hakpacker - create .hak files with this. You'll find nwhak.exe in your ...\NeverwinterNights\utils\ folder.
• Aurora Toolset - creates new modules using default and custom contents.

[edit] Mac toolset

• NeverEdit - Macintosh - Incase you're using a mac and don't know about this.

[edit] Misc

• Bioware`s Misc Files - some goodies to be found here.
• Bioware's Builders page - Lots of tools, much documentation, all downloadable.
• Clean Models 3.1.1c - Mdl correction tool (must have for tile fixes), with documentation, downloadable at the Vault.
• Funduc Search And Replace - Very capable search and Replace tool with powerful regular expressions
• InfoRapid Search & Replace - Another search & replace, freeware, quite intuitive.
• ReplaceEm - another search & replace, freeware, not that intuitive.
• WinRar - best compression for your HakPaks - free to use Shareware

• Halkhemy - tools to automate building of Custom Content files and documentation.

• NWN Viewer - less powerful than NWNExplorer but has some specificities which can be useful (e.g. for viewing model files)
